If your case happens :P~> to have a `dead' spot in its airflow, and sd0 is in that dead spot, :P~> that would explain why sd0 keeps failing. :P~The machine is in a tempature controled room, I can't remeber what the :P~temp is in the room. I don't have a case on the machine since there :P~are so many drives in it. Heh. Taking the case off is probably making things worse. I can almost guarantee you that you'll have a drive failure if you leave them all stuffed in a pc case. :P~There could be an airflow problem, but the sd0 drive is not too hot, when :P~I touch it. sd4 is extermly hot to the touch. The cost of a quality external enclosure is pretty trivial compared to losing one or more Barracudas (there's downtime and Seagate may not replace them if they've failed due to obvious abuse). :P~They are stacked in this order :P~sd4 :P~sd3 :P~sd2 :P~sd1 :P~sd0 :P~And yes there is space between the drives :) although its not much space. That won't cut it. :P~I am going to get a fan to blow some air between the drives to see if this :P~will solve the problem. Doubtful. You've got a bunch of other problems as well. See Terry's message for helpful troubleshooting info.
