I had a fan :P~go bad in the enclosure for a Barracuda. It still didn't work in :P~open air in a room cooled to about 60 F. The disk gets hot pretty :P~fast and it eventually malfunctions due to overheating. :P~When it does, the disk starts yanking the signals on the SCSI bus :P~at random times. I was unable to read from my SCSI CDROM when the :P~Barracuda overheated. Actually, what I've noticed is that the drive will just spin down and will then start up and spin down erratically. :P~>I am going to get a fan to blow some air between the drives to see if this :P~>will solve the problem. :P~According to the little booklet that comes with the drives, you need :P~something like 50 cubic feet per minute of airflow directly across :P~the drive. I'd get a couple fans and blow air across all the drives. The newer 'cudas seem to be better than the older ones in terms of not converting energy to heat, <g> but they still require a fair amount of airflow over them.
