It's not a driver, it's a utility called mtx that allows you to change tapes or put the drive into 'stacker' mode to treat the device as 'one large tape'. True there isn't a BSDi supported version of it. I think it unlikely that binary compatibility would help at all here given that the interface it goes through is _very_ system specific as a rule. apologies, al (not speaking for HP..)
