Bad NIC card in the client. Interesting, too, because this problem occured with another NIC card, but that one blew altogether last weekend and was replaced with a card out of another machine. Both cards were about 3 years old and from the same maufacturer, both had this same ftp upload problem but had not exhibited any similar problems on a IPX/SPX network. Thanks for the suggestions.
