It will fire up but complains at shutown about various items: *FvwmTaskBar: cannot open xload: can't open kvm files ->line of non-keyborad charaters Fvwm-95: in function popup_func: <<ERROR>> No such menu StartMenu 4-26 -many times- Fvwm-95: in function stysup_func: <<ERROR>> No such menu Utilities -twice- Fvwm-95: in function popup_func: <<ERROR>> No such menu StartMenu 4-26 -many times- >If you're using startx, edit /usr/X11/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc, replacing >whatever window manager is currently being invoked with fvwm95. > OK, as above I have `exec fvwm95 &' , but no button bars appear. I am beginning to think this is going to be like `why fortune did not work'. Upon comparing the live file system with what was actually installed by /stand/sysinstall I discovered that none of the binaries for BSD Games were installed. This is mystifying when /stand/sysinstall announced that they were successfully installed. As far I can be ascertained I did install many Xwindow programs. The Fvwm95 directory has binaries in it. I have also installed fvwm. When it is running the Modules does not lead anywhere. It seems to work better than fvwm95 but still not quite right. It generates no real compliants when shudown. What would be nice to know is how to get a few items beyond the basic stuff running. Would it be wise to copy a working .xinitrc and .fvwm95rc in Linux to FBSD? I did needed to copy a working XFConfig file (same video card, same monitor, same release of Xfree ) since the configuration process would not work in FBSD that worked in Linux on the same equipment.
