Depending on how you installed BSD, X-windows should have been installed as well. You can verify this by checking for directories /usr/X11R6/bin, /usr/X11R6/lib, and so forth. Assuming you have it installed, you must first configure it using either XF86Setup (VGA mode GUI) or xf86config (text mode). Either of these programs will produce file /etc/XF86Config. Assuming you have it configured, start it by executing /usr/X11R6/bin/startx.
