The reverse for your numbers needs to be done, certainly, but you > will not be the one to do it; your provider owns the C-block and is NO! Serious ISP never tell you that you can't maintain reverse name server for non-octet boundary adress space. If you maintain company.com and address space 10.1.2.160/30 with name server at ns.company.com your ISP can add ------------------------------------------ 160 IN NS ns.company.com 160 IN CNAME 160.160.2.1.10.in-addr-arpa 161 IN CNAME 161.160.2.1.10.in-addr-arpa 162 IN CNAME 162.160.2.1.10.in-addr-arpa 163 IN CNAME 163.160.2.1.10.in-addr-arpa ----------------------------------------- into 2.1.10.in-addr.arpa zone definition file Then you can setup primary NS for 160.2.1.10.in-addr.arpa with ------------------------- 160 IN A 255.255.255.252 160 IN PTR xxx.company.com 161 IN PTR host1.company.com ... ------------------------- See http://www.internic.net/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-dnsind-classless-inaddr-03.txt Dan P.S.
