[I'm trying to make my laptop connect to my FreeBSD server. I use
the user-ppp on the laptop, since install does not have pppd, and
kernel pppd on the server].

I wrote on 08 Jun (in article <865746815.415812@aldan>):

=Then I start the pppd with the following config on my little server:
=	/dev/cuaa0
=	local
=	57600
=	199.232.255.52:199.232.255.51
=	#parity
=	crtscts
=	dns1 199.232.255.48
=	proxyarp

=the server's address is 199.232.255.52 (same as it's ethernet card's,
=the laptop's will be 199.232.255.51).

Ok. As the handbook suggests, I used another IP address for the pppd
on server. The line now says:
	199.232.255.50:199.232.255.51

After I say ``term'' on the laptop
=ppp on the laptop says "Packet mode" right a way, but then, it just sits
=there.

Pretty soon, pppd on the server logs:
pppd[24199]: No matching compression scheme, CCP disabled
and then exits.

TIA!
