386BSD asks the controller about the drive geometry instead of believing
the CMOS settings. If your CMOS settings don't match what the controller
says, you have "translated drive" problems.
Get the ide_conf.exe file from your favorite archive to find out about your
drive... despite its name, it's useful for translated drives other than
just IDE drives.
