Message-ID: <CHRISTIA.93Jan11203257@latenite.ssc.gov> Sender: usenet@sunova.ssc.gov (News Admin) Nntp-Posting-Host: latenite.ssc.gov Organization: SSC Laboratory, Dallas, TX Date: Tue, 12 Jan 1993 02:32:57 GMT Lines: 42 Hi, I have kind of a strange problem... I have a 100 Mbyte MFM disk on a seagate controller and a 300 Mbyte SCSI disk on a aha controller. I would like to keep the MFM controller all DOS and the SCSI all BSD. I really dont want to create multiple partitions and load both dos and bsd on separate partitions on the MFM controller as 100 Mbytes is just large enough to load DOS, Windows, some games, and the Windows applications I use a lot when working at home. I can install BSD on the SCSI, no problems :-), but I have to unplug the MFM controller to get the system to boot off the SCSI. Naturally, I would like to be able to boot the BSD on the SCSI without having to unplug the MFM controller. I suppose I could continue to boot off a floppy (UGH). I was wondering if any of you had a better suggestion? I was thinking: - Get the system to boot off of the aha controller. Then I could create a small ~5mbyte DOS partition on the SCSI and use the MFM as drive D:. Then I could use FDISK to set the active partition and I'm laughin. - Some DOS utility which can be applied to cause the system to load and boot BSD off of the SCSI. - ?? YOU TELL ME ??? thanks, mike -- ---------------------- Mike Christiansen Superconducting Super Collider Laboratory Controls Group 2550 Beckleymeade Ave. MS.4002 Dallas, TX. 75237 214-708-3415 christia@latenite.ssc.gov
