Definitely. If the CD-ROM drive was found you'd see an appropriate
probe message right after wdc1 similar to the wdc0/wd0 lines.

This may have been true with 2.1.x but not with 2.2.x which even
recognized my CD-ROM drive when I had it connected to my soundcard's
IDE-port when I transitioned from 2.1.0 to 2.2.1 and another disk.

While we're at it, currently I've put the CD-ROM drive into my new
toy box which has two IDE channels on board, so I decided to put
the CD on channel 2. wdc1 is found during the probes, but the CD-ROM
isn't recognized. Probing takes a really long time, though. For
the time being I keep my 2.1.0 installation on that machines disk.
Will I degrade performance a lot if I put the CD-ROM as slave on wdc0 ?

Greetings,
