Organization: NeoSoft Communications Services -- (713) 684-5900 Date: Tue, 12 Jan 1993 06:10:04 GMT Message-ID: <C0q94w.48p@NeoSoft.com> Lines: 21 Hey, how about making the second stage boot, say Julian's loader, an executable DOS program? That way 386BSD wouldn't have to reset the keyboard and do a bunch of other bootup dinking that is still causing us compatability fits -- DOS could handle it. Plus people who needed to do weird stuff like config a card could do it with the DOS utility those companies inevitably provide and, you know, put it in their AUTOEXEC.BAT. 386BSD.EXE would find the 386BSD partition and load /386bsd in its normal manner. The only drawback is you'd need a DOS partition or floppy to do it that way, no biggie but possibly offensive to purists.
