CAP and Netatalk provide, basically, the same services. Both wil allow you to share files and printers to Macintosh computers from some kind of un*x like OS. My understanding is that netatalk does the actual packet handling at the kernel level and therefore can show better performance speedwise. I love it and use it to provide file service to the Macs in the CS dept. here. Your mileage may vary.
