Hi everybody,
I have a very huge passwd file (20000 users) on a BSD/OS 2.1 host. This host
is the SMTP and POP server for those users, with on average, 10 POP sessions
and 20 sendmail sessions in the same time.
My problem is that when I added 10000 users to 10000 existing ones, 3 weeks
ago, the host started to be very slow in response for POP sessions. I assume
the cause is the increased time of authentification due to the increasing of
the passwd file size.
I would like to know if there is solution to solve this problem without
upgrading hardware.
