I have been trying for ages to get my network card going.......this
includes several postings to this newsgroup. Thanks very much for all your
help.

I got it going purely by chance. I once again tried to use the sysinstall
facility to configure the network settings. This usually has no
effect.....I go through the configuration and at the end it asks me if I
want to bring up the interface, I say yes and that is it.

The next time I booted up, the configuration stopped halfway through.
sysinstall had added a spurious " to the sysconfig file. It was trying to
find this that I discoverd the section for my network card was still
commented out. I fixed the quotation mark and removed the comment and it
has all been wonderful ever since.

Is this a flaw in sysinstall routine or did I do something wrong?
