I get the same problem, only I did an ftp install. With 2.2.2 release
upgrade, it was really depressing because it took almost 8 hours to do
the ftp install, I wanted to get all the source so I could create a
custom kernel.
I get the error login_getclass: unknown class 'root'
When I login as root I get the same message but it allows me to login
with my passwd giving me another error
Warning: imported path contains relative components.
I was fed up with it so I did a fresh install wiping out all the
previous partition and after another 8 hrs of downloading came up with
the same error messages, I figure it was not the upgrade process.

I also account this for the reason I can't get my ppp connection to
work? would this cause that? It works fine during the login and install
process.

I tried rebuilding the kernel thinking that something was wrong with it
and it failed sonthing to do with the not finding some files it needed..
I don't remember off hand what they were but I did download the full X
Developers install and all the source.

please help.
Sincerely, Ron Wright
