For what it is worth, it worked for me.  I set up the serial line and
verified it with terminal emulation talking back and forth.  Then I set


ttyd1	"/usr/libexec/getty std.19200"	unknown	on

in /etc/ttys, send SIGHUP to init, and the login prompt appears.
