The only difference is that the DAT8eU (Part # C1552B) comes with drivers for the various flavors of UNIX such as HP/UX, SunOS, SCO, etc. I have never used a SureStore with FreeBSD but I would guess that it would work right out of the box. : Also, can someone help tell me what kind of a SCSI connector will : be needed on the tape drive side ? 50 or 68, mini/big, centronics ? : The specs say that it has a single ended SCSI-2 interface. What does : that mean (how many pins would that be) ? Most of the SureStores I have seen here (I work at HP Cupertino) come out of the box with a 50 pin centronics connector. The SureStore comes with an adapter cable to go to a "normal" SCSI-2 connector. : Will this tape drive work with Adaptec 2940UW SCSI card ? No. The Adaptec 2940UW is a fast wide SCSI card. The SureStore is a SCSI-2 device. I would add that the SureStore is a damn nice tape machine. We here at HP Cupertino have dozens of them all over the place and we love them. They put up with tons of abuse. The new models tell you when to clean them which is very important if you want your SureStore to last. : Your (reliable) email response will be very helpful. : -------------------==== Posted via Deja News ====----------------------- : http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Post to Usenet Josef -- Josef Grosch | Laugh while you can | 47L-P4 jgrosch@cup.hp.com | Monkey boy ! | (408) 447-0503
