Do you have any "set parity" statements in your ppp.conf ? There was a problem here that has been fixed (and is available on http://www.freebsd.org/~brian in the June 24 archive). If this doesn't help (or you don't use "set parity"), your best bet is to start with tip/cu/kermit, and make sure that the serial device itself is functional. Are you using cuaa* or ttyd*. I've never really had much luck with ttyd* and always use cuaa*. > Does "ifconfig: interface ppp0 does not exist" during boot mean anything? That applies to pppd, not ppp so it shouldn't matter. > BTW, how do I get rid of that annoying "login: login_getclass: unknown > class 'root'" message when I log in? Download ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/FreeBSD-current/src/etc/login.conf and put it in your /etc directory. > Thank you, > > Beth > --- > By sending me spam (junk email) you certify that I may test your email > box's resistance to mailbombs by any means I wish. > NEW: Autoresponder testing: I will test your autoresponder's ability to > fend off attacks.
