That's a bit extreme.  I've seen many situations where it is useful
to share access to files.  Besides it is also common for a unix
box to only have a single user these days.  The point is that you
have to be root to perform a mount and if the root user thinks that
it is appropriate for other users to have access to the mounted
media then that's the way it should be.
