The current set of snapshots on ftp.netbsd.org all support shared libs.  1.3
should (will?) have shared-lib support.  Worst case--grab a new snapshot and

Hmm, it seems to work in NetBSD's -current--I wonder why OpenBSDs does'nt. 
I did'nt know that Thomas changed much from the original code....

This is true.  OpenBSD has a nice script, which walks you thru the process
(After, of course, the simpleroot has been booted).  The NetBSD/pmax list
has rumblings now and again about a similar setup.  Nevertheless, taking the
time to install either gets you a "modern" (instead of early-90s) unix...
