i'm trying to set up a news server (INN) using dell OptiPlex Gs 166 with BSDI
3.0. I have tried several times to install the O/S from the distribution disk
(purchased from BSD Authorized reseller). And i ran into 2 problems:
1. The license key that came in the box (new) is not valid. I tried to reenter
the key several times but it didn't work. I eventually installed the OS with
"none" as my key license, but it warned me that the OS is running in 'demo' mode
and told me to purchase the license. Anybody ever faced the same problem with
this?
2. The Express Setup doesn't seem to recognize my Ethernet Card (3Com 905) at
all, therefore i'm unable to connect to the network (no NS RRs found). I read
about some problems other users had with this type of card. Are those the same
problems (not recognized at all)? Do i need to download any patch or manually
configure my card?
All help with this problems would be appreciated, and if you have tricks & trips
about managing a news server with BSDI 3.0 (INN) I would be grateful if you
would share your experience with me.
