Maybe your management is interested in doing research.  It seems to
me, however, that most companies would instead prefer to have someone
who knows what she's doing pick something which works.  It's not like
you're picking bleeding-edge technology here.  If the suits want
benchmarks for server OSes, you've got a bigger problem on hand than
Microsoft.
