Obviously it's limited by available RAM. Also, what is the proper way to specify the desired size of the mfs partition (/tmp in this case) in /etc/fstab? I'm seeing this error message periodically but can't trace it to a process writing to /tmp....it's happening too fast and when I'm not watching. :-) Jul 9 15:47:11 somehost kernel: uid 0 on /tmp: file system full thanks, dave
