First let me dump the specs, EISA Bus 32mb RAM Embeded SCSI controller (Using the NCR 53C700 SCSI IO Processor). Embeded IDE Controller. Embeded Video (Using Western Digital WD90C30). Embeded Ethernet (Using Intel 82596CA LAN Controller). Keyboard Controller is an Intel 8742 with Phoenix PS/2 compatible kbd/mouse controller code. On top of that I plugged-in an Adaptec 1542B (for the reasons we know) and disabled onboard SCSI. I disabled onboard Ethernet and IDE too. The onboard video is driven like a Paradise video board. Ok, now when I boot TinyBSD it boot just fine, it sees my 1542B, and get me to the prompt. This is when I am starting to have troubles, sometimes the keyboard just wont respond so I have to reboot. But sometimes the keyboard respond just fine all the way. Strange. The first time the keyboard locked up, I disabled the cache and put my 'IO Bus Performance BIOS option' in standard mode (as opposed to enhanced mode). When I rebooted my kbd was ok, but then, after looking around I issued a shutdown, rebooted and my kbd was frozen again. So I coldstarted my machine, did not work, did a ward reboot, and here we go, this time it was working. The whole thing is that I did not figured out a winning boot sequence yet. I have to boot and reboot until it works. But when it works, it works well. any hints? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Colin Surprenant | ROT inc. galaad@rot.qc.ca | Recherche Operationelle en Telecommunication Phone: 514-849-0948 | Montreal, Quebec FAX: 514-849-6775 | IP: 192.77.49.131 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- surprenc@jsp.umontreal.ca | Universite de Montreal -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
