At present I only seem to have cc compiler which is also the same size as gcc. It seems like I do not have the correct cc compiler. Can someone please help with the following questions: (1) is the correct compiler cc or gcc ? (2) indicate where I can get the correct cc (gcc ??) compiler (and its correct version) (3) Should I build the compiler or simply download its binary version ? (4) Any other tips on ensuring the usage of the correct compiler. Here is the output of various commands: > which cc /usr/bin/cc > which gcc /usr/bin/gcc > ls -l /usr/local/bin/*cc lrwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 12 Jul 9 02:01 /usr/local/bin/gcc -> /usr/bin/gcc -rwxr-xr-x 3 root bin 59367 Jan 9 1997 /usr/local/bin/pentium-unknown-freebsd-gcc > ls -l /usr/bin/gcc -rwxr-xr-x 3 root bin 59367 Jan 9 1997 /usr/bin/gcc > ls -l /usr/bin/cc -rwxr-xr-x 3 root bin 59367 Jan 9 1997 /usr/bin/cc > /usr/local/bin/cc -v /usr/local/bin/cc: Command not found. > /usr/local/bin/pentium-unknown-freebsd-gcc -v Reading specs from /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/pentium-unknown-freebsd/2.7.2p/specs gcc version 2.7.2p > /usr/bin/cc -v Reading specs from /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/pentium-unknown-freebsd/2.7.2p/specs gcc version 2.7.2p > /usr/bin/gcc -v Reading specs from /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/pentium-unknown-freebsd/2.7.2p/specs gcc version 2.7.2p > > /usr/local/bin/gcc -v Reading specs from /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/pentium-unknown-freebsd/2.7.2p/specs gcc version 2.7.2p > Please respond via email Thanks -------------------==== Posted via Deja News ====----------------------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Post to Usenet
