What's wrong with the xf86quake version? : >It's a pain to set up. : Huh? It's easier than squake. Really? I typed ./squake and up came quake i typed xf86quake and it complained that it couldn't get enough video memory. I changed to the lowest resolution that was configured for my Xserver and It ran rather slowly. When I exited xf86quake it took down the Xserver and the rest of the operating system. Not really an ideal situation. : Or do you talk about XF86 in general? How many setup tools do you need? : And what are you using linux for, anyway, if you haven't managed to set up : X yet? : You just switch X into the resolution you want, and type "./xf86quake". : That's it. Doesn't sound too hard to me. The first step can be achieved : by CTRL-ALT-Plus 640x480 is a little high a resolution for most processors. I dont really know of anyone who has 320x200 as one of their X resolutions. : Neither does the last SVGA version I have seen. But playing a CD is pretty : easy under linux, anyway... which SVGA version are you talking about? Mine works fine. : Now, how would you play Quake on a Matrox Millenium, under linux? In : something other than 320x200? vid_mode 5 maybe??? Or is there something special about Matrox Millenium's and the svga library? I dont have any problems with my et6000. -- -- mark heath - Netspace Online Systems. http://www.netspace.net.au/ Obnoxious Usenet Habits #73.
