I made a old Mac IIcx (mac68k - 68030) user friendly by installing
NetBSD on it, and it works very well. Almost right out of the box.
But I have a problem with the Ethernet card. First time I booted,
theese messages showed up on the console:

Jul 14 09:48:55 myname /netbsd: ae0 at nubus0: address 00:00:94:07:df:41, type MacCon Ethernet, 16k mem.
Jul 14 09:48:55 myname /netbsd: ae0: length does not match next packet pointer
Jul 14 09:48:55 myname /netbsd: ae0: len 0000 nlen ff00 start 0c first 00 curr 0e next 00 stop 40
Jul 14 09:48:56 myname /netbsd: ae0: NIC memory corrupt - invalid packet length 65280

- The network was unavailiable. Tried again, and got:

Jul 14 11:13:47 studorg1 /netbsd: ae0: failed to clear shared memory at 0x88b4d00 - check configuration
Jul 14 11:13:47 studorg1 /netbsd: nubus0: slot a: MacCon Ethernet (Vendor: Asante Technologies, Inc., Part: MacCon Ethernet) not configured

Then I changed the card with another card of exactly the same type,
and got the same sequence of error messages.

Strangely the command "ifconfig ae0 up" made the device availiable
anyway, so I was able to configure the network and get the box on the
net. The only problem now, is that I keep getting these messages when
i transfer larger amounts of data over the net:

Jul 14 14:56:28 studorg1 /netbsd: ae0: warning - receiver ring buffer overrun
Jul 14 14:56:30 studorg1 last message repeated 5 times

The data does not seem to get corrupted in any way. Files transfered
via ftp unzips and untars well, and I compiled and installed Apache
web-server, which runs with no problems at all. I guess any problems
are taken care of by the TCP/IP stack, but the messages are kind of
disturbing. Does anyoune know what they mean and how I can get rid of
them?
