Hey there,

I'm looking for some testimonials here from people who have used one or both
of the above cards (Adaptec AHA-1542 and/or BusLogic 545C). Hopefully
someone will have used both of them and can compare between the two.

In summary: I have a AHA-1522a card which seems to have flakey scsi
support under FreeBSD (2.2.1). I wish to get a more "rock solid" card
in the interum (before purchasing "the big machine" :) and have narrowed
it down to the aforementioned cards. both are in the range of $160 US
right now.

A fellow on the net was kind enough to tell me that his experience with the
1542 cards has been "rock solid" and thought also that the core team was
using them and one of the BusLogic scsi cards as the cards of choice at one
time. True core team? Another friend of mine claims that BusLogic cards
are generally better supported under Linux/bsd/whatever since they are more
liberal with hardware docs, etc. Does anyone have any knowledge to back
that up?

If anyone has had experience with either or both of these cards under
FreeBSD 2.2.1 PLEASE email (or post). All input is welcome.

Thanks,

-Jr
